Review: Nikutaikan-K

Nikutaikan-K (肉体漢K), 1989, Yasunaga, Kouichirou, Shounen Sunday

Warning for rape.

STORY: 3

Meet K, a hero who gets his super power from rape. This is supposed to be hilarious. Oh, and suicide is funny too.
Here is a one-shot that someone thought was worthy to translate for a wider audience. From what I understand, the title 肉体漢K means ‘sexual intercourse’ or ‘sex friend’. Looking for that term on the internet led me a to shop that sells a Japanese sex-toy in the shape of a French croissant, and I was not prepared for that.
Well, let’s not waste our time and get through this quickly.

The hero of justice
When sexual violence is a source of power for men, involuntarily accurate.

ART: 4

Cheap art from the 90s.

Let's make rape funny with metaphors.

POLITICAL POTENTIAL: 3

Victim blaming, normalization of prostitution.

One of the reason why around 80% of sexual assaults are not reported is adversity from the police, isn't it hilarious?

FEMINISM: 2

One more author drawing with one hand in his trousers. Not need to waste time analyzing rape culture for this one shot.

Hilarious right?

CONCLUSION: 3

Nikutaikan-K deserves to be on this website as a testimony of the misogyny of the manga industry.
Just imagine a world where one man over ten is to be raped during his life (which is the actual statistic for women), would the author draw such kind of story mocking male rape victims? Would the editor say “come on it’s just silly, take it easy!” if criticized?
